Nature is always giving

"Harvesting my own herbs and making skin and hair remedies from what nature offers us, gives me an immense sense of satisfaction. Satisfaction stemming from the appreciation and gratitude for these bountiful gifts that are so often overlooked or taken for granted."

Some of my favourite Winter and early Spring herbs and plants for healthy skin and hair are found in this time of year, in Jordan.
I can find so many of the herbs I love harvesting to use freshly as well as dry for use later in the year.
Nettle (Urticaria dioica) is one of these. Found in shaded wet areas and in citrus groves.
Best to pick in fields where you are sure no pesticides are used. Pick and handle wearing latex gloves as their name indicates (stinging nettles) they sting the skin when touched.
When picked wash and use freshly by infusing in water or dry them and store in glass jar for use in the months when they are not available.
Always remember: when wild harvesting please do not to remove the plants with their roots to ensure you have a yearly harvest. If it is the roots or flowers you are harvesting, then make sure to keep some to also ensure they remain for years to come.
Always respect and look after nature so she will look after you.

Rosemary, lemon and scented geranium are garden plants that are common in Jordan.
